• Councillors attended a Joint Traffic Committee with neighbouring Councils of Halberton, Sampford Peverell, Uffculme and Willand. It was a useful meeting, and the report is on our website. We’ll continue to look for ways to work with neighbouring parishes on key topics.
• The new ‘no dogs allowed’ sign has been installed at Westleigh playpark, our thanks to the volunteer who put this up for us.
• We’ve completed accounting processes for 2025-26 and the latest documents are now on our transparency page.
• It appears that the planning application (26/00604/FULL) to build a house on the garages/parking area in South View Westleigh has been ‘called in’ to the MDDC 29 July Planning Committee meeting. Those who have commented on the application should be notified of this, and the Parish Council aims to send someone to the meeting to represent the community’s views.
• Mid Devon District Council has started consultation in relation to a new Local Plan, which will be a key document when considering whether planning applications are approved or denied. A consultation is open until 10 July, find out more information. The Parish Council has responded, to emphasise the need to consider local priorities.
• Our email newsletter continues to grow in subscribers. The sign-up form is here.
There are still people who’ve requested to join the list but not clicked the link in the confirmation email. People can check their junk/spam to make sure they’re fully signed up, or email cllr.tsara.smith@burlescombeparishcouncil.gov.uk who can add you to the list manually.
The full minutes will be uploaded soon.
Our next meeting is on Monday 3 August at Westleigh URC Hall at 7pm.
