What should the future of development look like in Mid Devon?
Mid Devon District Council has started consultation in relation to a new Local Plan, which will become the blueprint for new housing, employment, retail and infrastructure in our area - a key document when considering whether planning applications are approved or denied.
Published: 21 June 2026
A consultation is now open, giving people and organisations the chance to share views on what the new Local Plan should cover, the main issues it should address and how residents would like to be kept informed as work progresses.
If you have views on future homes, jobs and infrastructure in our area, you can respond to the survey, which is open until 5pm on Friday 10 July 2026.
A key thing to consider at this stage is MDDC’s list of possible and likely topics for inclusion, which can be found on this page: Notice of scoping consultation May 2026 | Let’s Talk Mid Devon.
So, if you have a view on whether or how future planning applications will consider topics such as climate change, heritage, nature conservation, flood risk management, transport and air quality, you can let MDDC know by taking part.
You can find out more and sign up to get email updates on the process, which will have several stages on consultation along the way, on the Plan Mid Devon website.
