Opportunities for community input

Tonight Burlescombe Parish Councillors will be at Westleigh & Burlescombe Village Hall (which if you're not sure is the village hall in Burlescombe) from 6pm to give the community an opportunity to feedback on the information we've shared recently, particularly about setting the precept for 2025/26.

Published: 17 January 2025

This informal drop in is one of several ways that the Burlescombe Parish community can input to the future direction of the Parish Council.

After an interesting few months, Burlescombe Parish Council would really value hearing from the community on our most recent activity and the options for the future.  Full details can be found in:

– The minutes and supporting information from the Parish Council meeting that took place on Monday 6th January. At this meeting we discussed the proposed Clerk’s salary and shared information after finally gaining access to our bank account on Thursday 2nd January 2025.

– The agenda and supporting information for our Parish Council meeting coming up on Tuesday 21st January. Where we will discuss and vote on the proposals for setting the 2025/26 precept (the part of your Council Tax that the Parish Council spends). Also on the agenda are our Complaints Policy and Vexatious Policy.

We would like to make the community aware that, before taking any decisions at the meeting next Tuesday, Councillors would like to be able to take into consideration anything that has been raised by the community beforehand.  A reminder that any member of the community can also speak at this meeting during the Public Participation slot.

The Parish Council meeting on 21st January will be taking place at Westleigh URC Hall (which if you’re not sure is the hall attached to the Church in Westleigh) from 7 to 9pm

We understand not everyone can make a meeting so you can also contact Councillors via email

All the information mentioned above and more can be found on this website

Burlescombe Parish Council has big plans and we’re really looking forward to working with the community to make them happen.

Just to remind the community, Parish Council meetings are Civic public meetings which by law means they are subject to non negotiable regulations, including that they are allowed to be recorded.  Informal drop ins are not governed by the same regulations and are not allowed to be recorded.  Parish Council emails are governed by data and protection regulations.  Burlescombe Parish Council  has also adopted a Code of Conduct, which can be found on this website, and we would also ask the community to respect this.
